Slot.it Porsche 962 IMSA - Daytona 3 Hours 1986 - #CA25a - 1/32nd Scale

Many enthusiasts have been waiting for this release and I am one of them. Although not much has changed, I still enjoy this series and welcome any new addition.

It is important for us at HRW to not only help inform current home racers, but also to introduce the newcomer of some of the best models our hobby has to offer. So if you are new or maybe just returning to the hobby, please take the time to browse our Slot.it Review Archives. Reading these articles should help you understand this popular series and what it offers to you.

Since we are still enjoying this series and Slot.it has no plans to stop it, this model was an easy choice. Presentation is everything in many cases and the paint scheme on this car was the major selling point. Some of you might scoff at this, but I know many a home racer who chooses cars based solely on looks alone.

QUICK DATA

This is the all new IMSA configuration body style for Slot.it and they chose a very attractive scheme to go with it. The tail section here is of course new to this line and I feel they have done a fine job of it.

If you are looking for someone to count rivets and complain about small detail inaccuracies, you are reading the wrong article. Nothing is ever perfect in our hobby.

For myself and a lot of other home racers it is just fine. This car is not perfect and neither is 99% of the rest of my collection. Slot.it made a decent effort here given the challenges they face and I am certainly going to enjoy it regardless of any scale issues.

The rest of the paint work is also well done. Markings seem crisp and clean with the white being very opaque and no noticeable bleed through on the larger markings. A few areas on contingency markings show slight fade, but you really have to look closely. I think the effort will more than satisfy most of you.

Wheels look good and the tires will grip most track surfaces pretty well. Each racer has that favorite tire blend they prefer, but the C1 compound is one of the best out of the box.

Turning the model over we see our chassis and inline motor configuration. You can see 2 screws, one up front and one on the rear that are easily removed to fully expose the rest.

I am very pleased with the car and it functioned as intended out of the box. All it needs is a little oil in the right places and a good owner to work with it.

For our smaller track this motor is too much. In fact, many enthusiasts we race with feel the same. Even dialing down the voltage and trying to fine tune it with our Professor Motor controllers, it just does not have the smooth operation we prefer. My motor of choice is the H&R Hawk. This motor delivers a good balance of control and power. The top speed is reduced of course, but on our track it is a non-issue.

Once installed this model was a lot more fun on our track and it will fit right into all the ones before it. Remember, this is just how we tune them for OUR track. Your home track is likely much different and so are your own personal tastes about car performance.

I am very happy with it and feel some of you who choose it will feel the same. With plenty of these Group C models in abundance and more on the way, it is certainly a series worth giving a closer look.
