Carrera Pontiac GTO Sportsman

Welcome HRW Sportsman Showdown Fans 🙂

Here are some build photos of my Carrera GTO Sportsman. I used a Carrera 1/32 model for the body I picked up used.

I stripped/soaked and sanded. 3 coats of primer. Enlarged wheel wells and cut hole for air cleaner in hood.

Back then I used the PM bracket but stopped due to how inaccurate it was. Lot of filing and enlarging to get the bracket square and aligned, But it did the job back then. Basic K&S tubing for the main rails.

Not the most advanced front axle design, but robust and it made setting the height easy.

Took this off an old Pro-Track chassis and flattened it out. We have a lot more choices today.

Basic roller finished.

Body mounts also very simple strips of K&S brass. .032 thickness. 1/2 or 1/4 width, your choice.

Used the CB Design “F1/Mod” 14.8 x12 wheels. These were a new design and they looked great just painted,
