Re: What were you doing 46 years ago today?

My wife thinks this is a hilarious topic and she's been enjoying it, so here's a surprise for her to find when she peeks again. The first two are from 1970, the third one is 1990, and the last is 2012. https://s6.postimg.cc/gestk0535/1970_R_B.jpg https://s6.postimg.cc/j8vyxfzjl/1970_kids.jpg https:/...

Re: Border customs AAAARRRGGGGHHHH

The longest to me in Virginia from Pendles was 10 days, and it turned out it wasn't sent when it was supposed to be sent. They had to wait for something to show up that they thought they had on hand. That was a long times ago when Pendles was a small operation. They are huge now, still doing things ...

Re: Cox 1/24 BRM

Matt, that's just sad. Educate their scrawny little butts! Young whippersnappers, dadburn it! Chris, I saw the same thing back in the day. People were concerned about how fragile they were, which was odd, since they were built like a tank and heavier than needed. I can't see it in your pictures, but...

Re: How to deal with decals wrinkles

I can't see your images at all, but in my experience, when that happens, the only answer is to keep checking it over and over and smoothing it out with a soft brush. Usually, the culprit is inferior decals. A local guy here sells on Ebay and his decals are just not good. I got tired of having to inv...

That's our Bob Taylor. He makes everything seem easy to us mortals who would never have thought of his solutions.

Re: Medium size Vintage controller collection... Interest?

Ho-ho! There are some memories! I still have a couple of the Cox controllers, even a replacement coil. But the jewel is that little blue MRC, MRRC? (with the optional brake wire). I still have mine from 1965. My checkered label is long gone, though. I was so proud of that little dude. I was the only...

Re: Wood track saved from the garbage dump

From my experience, you have two way s to deal with this: One, go around the track and "leap frog" the leads on you meter, set to "continuity". You'll find the faults in minutes. Its probably something so obvious you will feel blind for not seeing it. To repair, simply lay tape a...

Re: Oddball SCC part

Gearz, you break me up! Actually, I have used a metal dowel that small to get inside fretsaw cuts! Yes, I hated it. Meanwhile, Bob! Look what you did! That's a great tip. I have been using a metal tube over the thin motor shaft and silver soldering it in place like sweating a water pipe. It doesn't ...

Re: Tire size requests

I got a request to build a model of one of my weirder cars of the past. It was a '59 Cadillac hearse, and in those days, the hearses and ambulances were not made of factory parts, but enlarged copies, making the whole vehicle huge. This resulted in the need for oversized wheels and tires. I found a ...

Re: Paul Gage tire issue????

I caught the pretty red under my work lights a few years back. I can only report that none of mine have done anything like that and they go back to when nobody seemed to know who Paul was. I think it has to have something to do with how the car is stored. Because all my slot car stuff is in my woods...
