Re: I do a bit of resin casting...here is one for QM bodies

Yeah, Butch, THAT'S what holds us back. I feel better now I know.

Beautiful car. You should be very proud. As I remember, that car had unusual wheels of some sort. I'm too lazy to go look it up right now, are you going to cast parts for those, too?

Re: I do a bit of resin casting...here is one for QM bodies

No idea what the car was with the odd wheels I'm remembering. The Halibrands you mentioned are correct without modification. I looked and looked and whatever that Vette was I am thinking of, probably a Salt Flats racer, it isn't one of the Duntovs, and I never found it. Just wanted to be sure my ear...

Re: Carrera front headlight repair

That was an issue with the '32 Hot Rods. For them, it was almost impossible to fix them (they were in stalks either side of the radiator). All it took was a jolt in shipping or god help you, a roll upon de-slotting, and they were faulty, one or both headlights, never the tail lights. I was suspect t...

Re: Shop truck w.i.p

Its your choice, of course Bob, but the way it sits right now is dead perfect for that truck and all the others of that type in that era. You haven't mentioned paint. Want suggestions? Hate suggestions? C'mon, pleeeeze, Bob? Let us dream a little! I promise I won't reach back in my history and sugge...

Re: Shop truck w.i.p

Speakin' of which, do you happen to have the cruciform Dodge emblem/trim for the nose? They are easy to make once you have the "Dodge" lettering, if not. As far as that goes, I'll bet there are guys who reproduce it. They were made of aluminum, and kind of "clipped" on the louvre...

Re: INDY CARS for HARRY!!

Honestly, guys... wasn't Indy better then? Real innovation from truly talented people. The talented folks today are buried under the tech folks who do "proof of concept" animations. I miss the cowboy hats and cigars.

Re: It is cold outside

We're confused and happy here. Suddenly, yesterday, all the snow was gone, and today its 60F outside. Earlier this week we were struggling to keep it 68F inside the house!

Re: looking for nascars

I have a couple of barely run cars and a couple of bodies if you are still hunting. I was going to take pictures and sell them last week, then we froze.

Re: A question about how your club enforces rules

Strangebrew, I'm still laughing at that one an hour later. I am not a fan of strict rules except when it comes to messing up my track with crap. I have thrown people out of my building for doing that after I had told them it was never allowed. Actually, I think we talked about that incident when you...

Re: Motor cleaning and breakin in liquids ?

It seems everybody has a favorite method for this. It is valuable as a commutator cleaner and as a minimum wear break-in tool. The following is an edited version of instruction I got a long time ago and kept in my computer. In a glass of cold water, submerge that dude and run it for about 60 seconds...
