In The Beginning . . . . . . . . . . .

This how to article was originally written in February of 2012. It is almost 4 years old today. I had not heard of Home Racing World at this time. A friend of mine had asked me the other day if I had ever written 1:43 specific scratchbuilding articles, which caused me to search for this one. But the...

Re: In The Beginning . . . . . . . . . . .

CJR, The car is alive and well. I just "gifted" the car to a friend. That's how the search got started. I still have the 1:43 track setup and running. It stays in use. Mainly as a test track for my 1:32 and 1:24 cars. Thankfully I used Carrera GO track and made it 4 lanes. The configuratio...

Re: Getting Bent - Or Things You Can Make With Your Wire Ben

Good to see you're back Marty. Your posts always get me to thinking about how I want to do a project. As a matter of fact I just made a small mandrel bender for the 1/8 brass tubing. I got tired of crimping the bends when ever I tried to bend it. I made it with a 3/4" Tooling and used the 3/32...

McLaren vs McLaren - A Comparison of Drive Configurations

I had done this awhile back and never brought it over to Home Racing World. However, I started thinking about comparing apples to apples, I decided to start the discussion with the information in this article. Here is the article, comparing two Slot.It McLaren F1 GT-R cars - one with an FC130 in an ...

Re: McLaren vs McLaren - A Comparison of Drive Configuration

After sitting and contemplating the information above, I decided to do a comparison of an FC130 motor in an anglewinder vs a Flat-6 motor in an anglewinder configuration. I had a set of adaptors from Slot Car Corner, so I replaced the Flat-6 motor in my Sideways Porsche 935 Jagermeister with a Slot....

Re: McLaren vs McLaren - A Comparison of Drive Configuration

Good analysis..have you done any comparisons of their 4wd system vs regular? One step at a time my good friend, one step at a time. But that is one more thing on my plate - to compare the lap times between my Audi R18 TDI CA24b and my Audi R18 e-tron quattro CA29a. I think it might be interesting t...

Re: McLaren vs McLaren - A Comparison of Drive Configuration

Would be really good to compare oranges with oranges. Can you test the same motor in an inline, sidewinder and anglewinder configuration? Testing two different motors in the various configurations you don't know whether the improvement is coming from the motor, the different weight distribution or ...

My Latest Addition

My dear wife knows how much enjoyment I derive from my slot car involvement. My birthday is coming up and she asked me what I would like as a gift. I told her and then showed her what I would like. Well, earlier today this arrived: http://www.electricdreams.com/Shop/myfiles/image/cb064-combo.jpg It ...

Re: My Latest Addition

Were all Chaparral's white? Czar, The Chaparral 2 was the only exception. It was white, but the fiberglass monocoque "tub" was painted brown. When the aluminum monocoque tub was introduced on the 2C (and all subsequent Chaparrals) the car was all white. As we know, there is always an exce...

Re: Guide position

The longer the distance from Front AXle centerline (FAX) to Guide Post Centerline (GPC)' usually makes the car easier to drive. One of my easiest cars to drive is a Revell - Monogram Lola T-70 Spyder that has an HRS2 chassis under it. I "hogged out" the front pan of the car to get the guid...

Re: My Latest Addition

Congratulations on an excellent gift - that is beautiful. Love the depth of the shine. Mark Mark, In your hands, the fit and especially the finish are truly outstanding. The numbers - I do believe are decals - have no "edge" to them. As I look harder, I am seeing more things to be impress...

Re: Guide position

Yes the further forward the better From what I have read about guide set up on 1/32 scale it is more about the distance from the rear axle to the center of the guide post Having a guide with a front leading edge is also of a benefit My 2 preference's are the new standard slot-it with screw fit and ...

Re: McLaren vs McLaren - A Comparison of Drive Configuration

ModlerBob, My friend, you KNOW I WOULD never SAY "I TOLD YOU SO"! So I won't. Thank you for doing some testing. The pain is getting worse each day. I want to come over, but I'm afraid I would not be good company. Perhaps someone could come out with an anglewinder pod that is designed speci...
