Perhaps Cheater has taught him well :) With John's long distance support, I finished routing the slots for both ends.

Decided to add just a slight touch of banking for the straights. Not a lot, just for effect. Most tracks had some, at least to help water run-off (ahem) so maybe a good idea.

Image

Not really much bank effect yet, but when I pin the wood down it will curve it slightly.

Image

Installed the first layer underlayment, and then the curves to check it. I used one screw and pinned the center just to see how we liked it. Hard to tell, but it's there and I like the overall look.

We are getting there...

Gee Harry, your a good dancer! :laughing-rolling:

I like the bank for the straight idea!
Maybe at the center of the track, you can install a small grate and tubing to drain the lake into a bucket? :twocents-mytwocents:

Looks good Harry, keep up the good work, already thinking about a Mod Rod car.

It's getting exciting now. I like the idea of the slight bank to the straights.

Accomplished what we set out to do today.

Image

3 sheets of 1/2" MDF as an underlayment. It's staggered so the seams are offset from the old OSB below. Only needed 3 as the ends of the track is banked enough to raise above it.

Image

Precision banking system. :) Remember, not really going for a lot here. Just enough lift to give a slight incline.

Image

Sophisticated fencing system :) Just finding a straight one at the local yard was the fun part.

Image

All routed. Even put in the pit lane Doc told me to :)

Cannot say enough good things about the router WITH the vacuum port. I have sheet covered the entire basement and no need. This really worked well and venting out the dust.

Ok, tomorrow is spackle/sanding. Maybe get the gains routed if I have time. Grandkids command a supper with us and they out rank even a slot car track.

BIG thanks to The General for helping me today. She really did a fine job.

Oh, good seeing Dixon John drive by today...at least he waved :)
