The stock body seemed short to my eyes compared to the fiber bodies they used. So decided to stretch the front a little.

Nice job on the modeling Harry, now you just need to make the decision, if all that great work is going to waste, or will it be better to mix that resin and rubber to preserve all the efforts.

Thanks sir.

Well I am thinking about it. Leaning towards that direction, although I don't think many folks would care for it. It's a Buick after all :)

But yes, I will try and create one. If nothing else, the boys round here might race a few.

Don't worry Mark, if it's ready when I get home, I have a new eight pound bucket of rubber just waiting for it.

Well, have to finish it first :)

To secure the front back to the body, I used standard sheet styrene cut in sections and superglued.

Image

The method used is to apply masking tape to the bottom and again use the resin as a filler.

Image

Image

I mixed a very small amount in my mini-shot cup with a toothpick and used the pick to drip the resin into the gap.

Image

Image

It dripped on the sides of course and a little over on top. That's all fine and dandy. Nothing that can sand away.

Image

The other side to the story. The resin also flowed into/around the styrene strips and this really strengthens the area.

Image

So now after a first sand it's on to more gap filling the smaller areas and finish work.

Still a lot to accomplish yet, but making progress :)

Had to take a break from the body as I need to work on the wheel openings.

That means I needed the chassis ready.

Simple chassis.

Just a straight forward approach with no offset.

Now I can get the tires on and do a truing session. Then I can start sanding on the body again :)

Thanks guys!

Well the chassis is in roller form and I could work on the openings.

Image

I have them as far in the body as I dare to go. Any further and we would seriously weaken both the front and rear panels.

The Sportsman Spec max width is 2 5/8" but I usually set all mine right at 2 1/2. Looks ok to me.

On the front I decided to carve out the old grill. Just didn't like the looks of it and now it can be modeled with or without screen. In other words: "Modeler's Choice".

Hood lines scribed in and seems to look well enough.

Now to think about some flares on the rear :)
