..................Now this is my kind of racing.................
Looks like great scratch-building so far.
With a tire change, I think I know a series where these cars would be welcome come January.

Some bodies are being brewed as we speak for you guys.

Can't say how cool it is to see this happening. Those guidelines/rules were made not only for our series, but for others to use at their own homes. No one has done it yet until now.

Looking forward to this build myself. First time working with brass. I’m going to buy a new soldering device just for this. Any advantage to using gas vs. electric ? For a first timer?

Electric all the way. In the old days, we used little gas ovens and billet soldering irons. Endlessly dangerous and inefficient. I recommend the Hakko FX888 series. Best I ever had, and I used a Weller gun for over 40 years, and the grandfather of Weller, WEN, before that. Go with Hakko, believe me. And get some GC liquid flux in a dropper bottle. I use an old Weller dropper bottle with a large size hypodermic needle crammed into the snout. Its perfect for getting the flux exactly where you want it. I think I got the idea from GoKimco, where the best soldering equipment prices are. Good place to shop for the Hakko, too.

Electric it is then. I’d probably start a fire with gas anyway.

My body in progress for the Sportsman build. 1/32 Monogram Galaxie body kit. Adding a hood scoop I created, fender flares, side exhaust and a rear deck fin. Exactly 2.625 wide.....maybe with final paint too wide.

I built up the 4 NERF TransAM Camaros for Club IROC races. CB design wheels, Quickslick rears, Slot-it drive train, SCC axle blocks up front. Only the flat black Camaro was painted, otherwise virtually stock Scaley bodies and chassis (modified for axle blocks and SCC rear bushings). Bob M. is going to do his fantastic final track tuning on these builds so they will all be equal performers!. Found a set of Slot-it GT40 inserts that look nice in the Orange Camaro. The club has 3 sets of cars that we can IROC! Great pictures of the Camaros JT!

Brian - The Galaxie looks wicked awesome

Brian’s IROC Camaros were such a hoot to drive: like the 1:1 car, lots of torque, loud gears, two wheels through corners - but they don’t deslot - my favorite race of the weekend! Lots of character, so Bob - don’t tune them too muchL :auto-driving:

Harry - thanks for the mystery box! 8-) 8-)g

Great looking build Brian! You may have the only build (in the club) with flares! I was going for the hacksaw look! :D

Some of the photos I looked at had the wheel wells roughly (brutally) cut out, maybe a chainsaw was used!

And thanks for the surprise package Harry! :handgestures-thumbup:

Shoreline Model Raceways has had a Sportsman class for years, ours use a Slot.it HRS or HRS2 chassis. I have been tempted to do a scratch built chassis, but I doubt that I would ever get a chance to race it. Since I don't have a 1/32nd track such a car would just sit on the shelf.
