This long weekend allowed me to finally finish up the little stuff on my speedway. No track is ever really "finished" as we all know, but the basics are done, and racing can commence!
Here are some specifics on my track.
Footprint= 4' x 12'
3 lanes, with 4" lane spacing
Inner lane is 19', lane 2 is 21', lane 3 or outer lane is 24'
Power supplies'= Yes Supplies, I am running a variable 6-14 volt 5 amp unit on each lane.
Each station has its own digital volt read out, and can be adjusted from the driver station to accommodate any motors in any cars.
controllers= Pro. Motors adjustable. brake and trigger sensitivity at your finger tips.
Track call buttons= each station has a track call button for those way to often crashes.
Lighting= 4.5 volt stadium lighting all around, with there own power supply.
Track surface= 1/2' MDF, with three coats of terra cotta satin latex. acrylic painted racing groove.
Copper tape is used for conductivity.
Fencing= a combination of 12/2 romex wire on wood poles, and gutter screen retaining fence.
Timing= Track mate IR system in place, with remote screen.
Plans call for some more spectators, and some small buildings. Ticket booth, refreshment stand , etc.
The whole track and scenery will be based on a 1960's era of stock car racing, and all cars that run here are/will be scracthbuilt.
NEVER underestimate the fun that can be had on a small wood oval! This thing is fast and fun, and is easy to maintain. If your ever near the "Crossroads" of Georgia, come on in and give Hells Gate a try!
