Winless in dirt champs before last night at Fairview Speedway, Greenawalt exploded for a 49-point performance to top second place Mike Lengel by five counters. The remainder of the ten-driver field fared far behind as Dave Kurtz rallied for third in front of Homer Hiester and Dyke Becker. Coupled with Carey Becker's poor seventh place effort, Greenawalt jumped into the divisional point lead, leaving the Silver Crown 50 lap finale at Wernersville Raceway to decide this season's champion.
Halfway through the campaign, it appeared as though Greenawalt would glide to the USAC sprint title, but Carey Becker wouldn't go away, his three-point victory over Greenawalt Wednesday pulled him within 15 points of the lead. Tim Musser produced yet another solid run to take the third spot as Lengel trailed in fourth and Kurtz fifth in the 50 lapper. With a pair of features on line at the "Flying Dutchman Classic" finale on May 1, the USAC sprint championship will go down to the wire.

*** The next event will be the 14th annual SCORE USAC midget "Rich Vogler Memorial" 100 lapper at Wernersville Raceway on April 17. A 50-lap USAC dirt champ race will follow. Both features will be the divisional finales for the season.
