Here's how you do the hood pins: Prime, BMF them, and then paint. Using polish over the area, you'll remove the paint to the BMF...my buddy does this on emblems on his models and it looks incredible.

Thats what I do with the emblems on my cars David. It works great. On my Petty Dart however I shaved the hood pins off. You are going to have to wait to see what Im using for pins.
