Yeah, Shotgun, I never cared for the street version either, basically a Vega dressed up with no place to go. I can't say I love this new livery more than the old ones but it's still a pretty good looking ride!

My only experiences with Monza critters were in the 80's...
And both were hot rods...

The first was a maroon '77 Skyhawk that lost a head gasket on it's original 231 and had a 455 out of an Electra 225 squeezed into it - it was a tire shredding machine for about six months but ended up getting into a nasty wreck that totaled it out. :(

The other, which was nearer and dearer to me, was a friend's '76 Monza. It was a factory black on black car that he picked it up cheap with a dead 4 cylinder in it (the previous owner lost a radiator hose on the highway and drove it till the motor locked!) With his brother's help, he replaced the four with a 327 out of a wrecked Impala - and created one fun ride! Even though the car only had 3.08 gearing, the tiny little 13" tires didn't stand much of chance of holding traction when you'd get on it!
The unshrouded side pipes it had would fry the back of your leg getting out of it - but man that 327 sounded sweet winding out through them!

A USAF Captain in the AF that lived next door to us in Germany had one that was a factory 350/4-speed car. While the 350 wasn't a powerhouse by that time, he'd done some work on it and that thing would FLY.

I owned a '79 Olds Starfire with the Firenza package. (Monza Spyder lookalike). It came with the Buick 231 V6 and s 5 speed.
I put an edlebrock manifold, a Holley 4bbl. and headers on it and the was actually pretty entertaining.

By today's standards, Monzas are not very exciting, but in the late 70's they were pretty cool.

I'm glad Carrera brought them back.
