B-Nova Adapters Replacement

Postby cgingras » Sat Sep 17, 2016 1:27 pm

Since B-Nova stopped making his guide adapters for Scalextric cars and they're gone from every website out there (or almost), what do you guys use to make a Scalextric car compatible with a Slot.it guide?

I want to transform a Scalextric car for a particular race and this is a stumbling block.

I have never bothered with an adapter, I just us Slot.it wood track guides. Those use a retaining screw and that must be adjusted so that the guide does not wobble or bind. I shorten the guide so that it is the same length as a Scalextric guide and also trim the bottom of the guide for clearence. Sooner or later the stock guide holder is likely to break, in that case I make a new one out of brass and attach it to the chassis with screws and epoxy glue.

Yes Rich that is great if you are just repairing a car for yourself. Our rules at the store would not allow that as it would be considered stiffening the chassis.

If the replacement holder was the same shape, but made of plastic would it be legal? In the absence of any restrictions I figured that I might as well use something that is not likely to break.

It would just depend on your rules, here plastic is fine as long as it is glued not screwed in and doesn't add to the chassis ' s strength or flex .
