On my chevelle and challenger resin bodies (RMS) I carved out the wheel openings, going after the figure 8 car look from local track. The challenger has broke twice at the rear and chevelle is weak at the front. I thought about epoxying a brass rod around the inside of the bodies, or gluing sheet styrene sheet inside to reinforce the openings. Anybody try these ideas or has any other tips??

Yes, I have glued styrene sheet strips and/or small diameter rod.
Works pretty good and has held up during some tough contact.

I used thin brass sheet cut to shape, and epoxied in place.
I took too much away on my first Javelin, not so with my second.
Ahhh another life experience.

Make small paper templates of the areas to reinforce. Transfer the template shape to open weave tennis racket/hockey stick tape. Stick pieces on the body and press firmly. Soak the reinforcing patches with super glue on a tooth pick.
If large fix existing cracks beforehand by introducing a tiny bit of superglue into the crack from the inside using a tooth pick.

Taking that much out of the cars can weaken them. But, they look so awesome!!!
I personally just cut some styrene sheet or strips and glue it into place. The hockey tape also works really well with glue.

Yup, styrene strips; probably 0.75-1.0mm cut to shape and epoxy glued in place, should take care of it for you. Nice looking cars!
