SCC Carrera Cheetah tribute

Postby ListerStormGT » Sat Feb 02, 2013 2:19 pm

Ok so the Carrera Cheetah I have been working on has been a little tribute to the guys at SCC. Since the car was planned to be yellow from the beginning and all the parts I used on it came from SCC it was a no brainer to just go ahead and make it a tribute car for them. Actually the only thing missing for the car is a Dum Dum decal for the hood... I used the air cleaners and carbs off a 1:64 Hot Wheels car, the paint is Krylon Sun Yellow and the decals are a mixture of Pattos and the numbers/roundels are from the Revell/Monogram sheets. I can say that with the parts I used this is a very different car than how it came. It runs super smooth and is a lot of fun. So a big thank you to Dickie and Steve for continuing to supply us with great parts for our hobby!

Parts list:
CB Design 15x7 insert wheels (front)
CB Design 15x11 insert wheels (rear)
Slot It 9t pinion
Slot It 27t crown
SCC brass bushings (rear)
SCC axle spacer (front)
SCC silicone lead wire (yellow)
SCC 5 spoke inserts
SCC braid
Slot It guide
B-Nova guide adapter

Tires:
PG 21103 (front)
PG 22126 (rear)

I have so much trouble with yellow that I don't use it for anything but stripes and rockers. That looks flawless, Lee. Another terrific job. If I did it, it would have had drools and drips so bad I'd strip it and paint it black.

I sure am glad you did not fully listen to the Rolling Stones when they were singing, "I see a Red Door and I want it painted black"! The yellow is awesome!

Cheetahs have always had that "Bad Boy" look about them. Must be painted in those types of colors! Red, yellow, blue, green - none of those earth tones, please!

I'll bet it runs at least as good as it looks!

Love it!

Just awesome looking Lee! That came out great. As was mentioned, yellow is very hard to get right. You nailed it.

What a great looking car Lee - WOW! We've seen quite a few examples of your amazing work in the past - this is our new favorite (most HRW readers are probably not aware that yellow is our favorite color...)! Thank you for sharing this with us and other HRW readers - we appreciate your efforts.

You've really made our day!!

Dickie/Steve

p.s. Would it be OK to put this picture (with a link to this thread of course) on the SCC website? We'd like to show off your handiwork...

Thank you everyone for the compliments on the Cheetah, I know it was a bit overkill on all the parts and definitely not necessary to do all these things to make a good running car. But boy it was a fun build and who doesn't like excuses to buy more parts... Carrera gave us a great little car in stock form, but what I did just made it even better and for us guys that have wood tracks you always need to do some tuning no matter what brand of car it is. Thanks again everyone I am glad you all liked it.

P.S. Steve/Dickie you are more than welcome to use any or all of this for your site. I would be honored. It is you guy's tribute after all. ;)
