As Matt mentioned in a different thread, it's a different world now than it was 20 years ago. Back then, it was Ninco, Scalex/SCX, and Fly for choices. The Fly Classics were the beautiful cars everyone wanted, but they ran like crap and you had to make your own tires if you wanted any no-mag performance. All of us with vintage cars were trying to teach each other how to make parts. Kitbashing models was one of the ways to get a 1/32 car that wasn't normally available (like the Cobra Daytona Coupe, or the Ferrari F-40).
A while ago someone was talking about the Lindberg Daytona Cobra......so this is mine:
It's the Lindberg body with Cox magnesium wheels (yup, 1/8" threaded axles). I cut out the bottom, and used a Hawk rear chassis section, a Marx 16D motor, and a scratchbuilt front end:
I think the rears are in one of my pit boxes.....I can't remember..... :(
Anyway......to all those who want to bash models......rock on and make them run!
I posted this before, but this is the Monogram Snap-Tite F40 in anglewinder:
