1957 Borgward 1500RS

Postby munter » Thu Nov 08, 2018 9:03 pm

I have just finished a run of 30 body kits for Charles Lawrence (QM bodies) in Seattle...They are on their way there now.

This started as a solid 3D print which was moulded and cast before some refining of details and then remoulding a casting again.

This was a small East German sports car of the fifties.

You can see one I have prepared and have it sitting on some incorrect wheels.

The job was the largest volume run I have undertaken and it has had me bogged down somewhat so I was glad to get them shipped out just the other day.

Great choice! I have old sports car magazines from England in the 50s and early 60s that I found in my father's stuff, and I remember Borgward among the marques I never heard of. I was hooked immediately. Most of the magazines aren't published any longer but I keep a watch for when old issues show up in the shops.

Great Work John! Any casting in that amount would be tiresome!
That is a very interesting car to say the least.

I recall a couple who were teachers in the '50s owning a gray Borgward sedan. I never knew they made sports cars.

Looks great! vaguely reminiscent on the side of the MB 300S. Nice choice for a run of unique cars!
