During the week I started a new project, I dont know why as I have my 56 Dodge & caravan & a pair of AAR cuds transams on the go. Just had the urge to do some body work on some superbirds. For me this is a no brainer. Richard Petty is my fav driver of all time & the wing cars are my favourite car. Ive decided to both Richards #43 & Pete Hamiltons #40 at the same time.

Heres Pets #40 -
Thes are 1/25 scale & Im using some vintage Johan Superbird kits. The only way to go I think. Ill be combining the body of the Johan to the nose of the Monogram superbird as the nose is better on the Monogram. So Ive probably got 5 hours into the bodywork so far. First job is to open up the wheel arches. I flared the fronts by grinding it thin on the inside & using a candle to heat up the plastic & run the back of a small spoon to flare the guards out. In the rear I didnt want a flare but more of a bulge. So I used some putty on the rears. Its pretty time consuming but Im happy with where they are going. Next up is to clean up some of the flashing, remove the wipers & glue on the nose & make a some front spoilers from scratch. Heres some quick pics -
Heres a pic showing my body mods to an original johan body -
I hope to get these finished pretty quickly, in the next few weeks as Im pretty amped to do these. Thanks for looking.
