A couple of cars from the bench to the track (and 3 more...)

Postby MrAdept » Sat Jul 20, 2013 5:25 pm

These have taken me nearly a year to get to this state working on and off with them. Quite pleased with the outcome and learnt a lot...

First is a Chaparral 2D from Ocar

Wheels and chassis on this are from the MRRC Chaparral
It has LED lighting front and rear.

This is a Porsche 914-6 from Ocar

The wheels on this are from MRRC and chassis from PRS.

This is a Ferrari 275GT/B from Ocar

The wheels are Racer wire wheels and I think really set the car off nicely. This one also has bare metal foil bumpers. The other silverwork is with a Sharpie silver pen.

This is an Aston DB4 Zagato from Ocar

The wheels here are also Racer wires and makes the car look really good. This also has a bare metal foil grill and other work.
The light covers are cut from flat sheet and bent over a screwdriver shaft with a hot soldering iron.

This is a Reliant Scimitar from Ocar
Image
The rear wheel arches needed some work as they were too small for the tires and also a little offset.

A pair of Vauxhall Magnums from Ocar

This is a Vauxhall Chevette 2300HS from Ocar. This car is from my formative years - I so really wanted this car - although a quad carb Vauxhall Magnum 2300 would have been a suitable alternative... The engine from the real car was breathed on by Lotus and was quite the performer. My Mom had the VX1800 version and it was quite the hauler.

Chassis is PRS.
As an aside an aquaintance of mine had one and had the displeasure of having the nose cone ripped off by a passing car. Apparently on the first few cars there was a lot of Bondo used so there was quite the cloud of bits...

The next 2 are from Racer. Both are kits, the Porsche was painted and the Ferrari was a bare kit
Porsche 935K Jagermeister

This was a stunning kit to build. I got it from ebay and there were a couple of missing bits. Marco from Racer immediately supplied the missing lights and driver, but then I discovered the door handles were missing so they are fabricated from brads. The build is excellent and the detail is fantastic.

Ferrari 330p from Racer.

This is an unpainted kit that I got from Bruce at Cincyslots. I can't provide enough praise for these kits - they truly are awesome. The finish on the resin parts is fantastic.
Jokingly the wheels on this car are the 3rd set. The first set are on the Ferrari 275GTB and the second set on the Aston Zagato - so I though I had better finish the 330p...

Seven highly detailed kits from resin cast stage to finish in one year? To quote Harry earlier... you are a machine! Great cars.

Great work...you have covered some favourites of mine.
Impressive "Bare metal" work on the details.

Love the Chaparral.

total respect now for the resin conversion, now that I tried one and on to my second.

Thumbs up for sharing, always gives me ideas for the "next one"

Yeah, I can only echo what the other guys have said. On a lot of resin kits I've seen, there is a gap between the glass and pillars. Yours look pretty flush, great stuff.

I cut out all the windows and glue them in separately - that way they are all flush fitting.
The Aston and the Racer Porsche both allow for the side windows to fit along the outside which gives a really good finish.
