LocoRacer Tom's "Modified Madness" Series

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Thu Oct 23, 2014 3:01 pm

This is what happens when I leave my buddy Tom unattended.

Sort of inspired by the vintage modifieds we have built in the past from the Lindberg kits, he decided to make HIS OWN body style to add variety. He also wanted them different and he accomplished it.

Image

On a mock up chassis and wheels but you get the idea. This one is mine to finish.

Image

This is Toms.

Where did they come from?

Image

1/16th sheet plastic. The bodies were mocked up from paper cut outs AND using plastic yard sale/garage sale signs you find at the marts. Then using the plastic Razor Jon has given us, he traced, cut and put them together, just like a kit.

It's wild, it's crazy...and it's FUN :)

Thanks Tom!

Harry, youdo have some kind of filter so Shotgun doesn't see this.....right? :?

Very cool, I love using old "for Sale" signs to fabricate things I need...Tom just took it one step (well a whole bunch of steps) further. Harry, we need to see yours when it's done.

What an awesome class of cars these would make! Tom sure has some talent there!
Those would be like running the midgets, only faster.

No sense of humor :)

Ok, threw a chassis together for mine. Talk about a parts bin special.

Image

Using some PG tires Paul made up, not listed yet. I like pie crust :) Sort of going by the box art from the Lindberg kit as a guide.

Typical approach for me. I like to make them slide so it's easy to adjust as I need it.

Getting there.

It is official: Tom is a genius! Sadly, that is probably faster and smoother than anything I have RTR...

Its almost like "Origami" in plastic!, Hand Tom a sheet of styrene, and out comes a slot car!
I suppose the wheels are bottle caps, and the tires are made out of faucet washers!
Whats next???????

That is awesome!
BTW Harry - I really like the look of those pie-crust tires you have on the rear of your build! Look forward to seeing those become available! :D
