Yenko Stinger Corvair

Hi everyone,
Well I'm new here so bear with me.
Picked up a Corvair on ebay from cagee13. Don't know what I was thinking but I had to have it so I paid way to much for it (bidding fever I guess) Anyway, he was extremely accurate with the description (will need a lot of work) I was just glad to finally find one in 1/32 scale. It's been fun turning it into a Stinger though. Just about done with the bodywork. I was able to use an old Scalextric Audi A4 chassis. Worked extremely well, same wheelbase and width, just had to add mounting posts for it. The Minilite wheels are GOM I believe, that I've had for a long time . I think I can even make use of the tray with the driver and roll bar from the Audi.
Now if I can figure out picture posting , you'll be able to see what's been done. The most difficult part was the deck lid vents.
I've found that regular old bondo works really well with a resin body .
Well, here goes......

Thanks....I've been enjoying myself. Really happy to have finally found a body to do. It's a car I've wanted for years being an old Corvair guy. The car I'm trying to replicate is James Reeve's car from 1976 at Road Atlanta. Seeing that car and watching it run left an impression on me I guess you could say. I don't know exactly what do do about the graphics on it. I've checked with a decal maker and haven't heard back....any ideas?

Lots of work has gone into this car and it looks a million times better than Aurora ever got it. Really nice work on this car so far. It is iconic and deserves to be done.

Mine is on hold at the moment, but I hope to be back at it in a week or so. I have to paint the slot car room this weekend and it looks like a tornado went through it at the moment.

Great looking ride! I can't wait to see it finished. BTW how are you planning to paint and decal? It inspired me to look for a Corvair in 1/24th scale. I had seen one at the slot convention back in 2004 or 2005. As usual the plastic models are on Ebay but priced a bit high. Then I looked at a website called Round 2 and they claim that AMT is re-releasing two Corvair models - a 69 coupe http://round2models.com/models/amt/chevy-corvair and a "funny car" http://round2models.com/models/amt/chev ... om-corvair in December of 2014 - just in time! I know there are decal sheets out there for Yenko Stinger versions raced in SCCA. Now I just have to wait until they receive their first shipment!

Got the paint on it now, still a ways to go with detail and finishing. So far , I'm pleased with the result. I could have spent more time with prep for a better paint job but hey, it's going to be raced so I'm calling it good...the pics always show ever flaw anyway.

Ok, just about done, more or less. Now if I could just stop running it so I CAN finish it. Runs really well, better than expected. A little magnet tuning and it came right around, slides nicely but not too much. The Audi A4 tray and driver fit good after I trimmed it. Just have to fit the glass and find some decals then on to the next project.
