2 more cars - or far too easily sidetracked...

Postby MrAdept » Fri May 29, 2015 5:46 pm

So I am working on a carving project, but then someone says - that would be a cool car to do...
so... Carrera Vette as Penske Corvette. Wheels are from a Carrera Mustang, bumpers cleaned up and filled along with the hood. Fabricated sidepipes. Body was black, but sprayed up blue quite nicely. The chassis is the digital version - got to love the brake lights!Image

Than someone says what about a Carrera Daytona Cobra...
so... Monogram Daytona on a Carrera Cobra chassis
Image
Doesn't particularly look different, has front and rear lights and the interior is now flatter to allow for the motor position. But now runs on the digital track with similar performance to the Carrera Cobras.

This is the rear of both of them

The fronts aren't shown as they are very bright and I haven't yet managed to get a good photo!

Cobra coupe chassis showing my fabbed chassis bits - This was originally an analog car with the guide trimmed for Scaley Plexitrack - really need to swap that out!

Tail light leds for the Corvette - these fit snugly into the 4 holes

Back to the carving project...

Mr. Adept,

I am sorry to hear that you have been afflicted with a life altering disease that there is no known cure for!

The disease is Slot Car Attention Deficit Disorder. Better known far and wide as S.C.A.D.D. Unfortunately Social Security does not have it listed as one of the many diseases that will qualify you for Disability! Trust me, I've tried.

While trying many different distractions, I have found there are none. When you hear that voice, you simply listen to it, get busy, drop all other activities and contend with it.

During my recovery from surgery, I spent 40 days in the hospital, bored out of my mind. My normally loving wife would NOT sneak in one of the SCX Compact Speedway sets so I could at least let my heart run around in circles all day long.

I have one of the Corvettes left and one of the Revell Corvette snapkits...

Marty you should have said...I have a spare set - I bet no one would have noticed it set out on your bed
