Weekend Toy Shopping - Mom was good to me :)

Had a nice trip today. Not often I get a chance to go into a full hobby shop and took advantage of it :)

Mark Twain is the best shop in my area (2 hours away). I try to support the local shops when I am in the area and you know it's a good place when you see this sign:

And they have a very decent selection.

But I had to behave. I just spent my Father's Day Special with SCC, so I skipped the RTR here and looked around.

Now displays like this mean little to those with shops close by.

For folks like myself who live "out in the sticks"? Yeah, it's a big deal.

Must....resist...the dark side...it's strong here...

Ahhhh...much better. The Force was with me.

So material haul it was :) Even a Airfix Triumph for the "SLC" Division. The Stromy Cheetah was rescued from a little flea market on the way there. For 3 bucks I just picked it up for no other reason than to shelf it.

Hope most of you have a great weekend as well.

Thanks to the staff and owner of Mark Twain. Very helpful and enjoyed the company.

Good haul!

Several of our club members have built Cheetahs that were a direct resin re-pop from a Strommy body. Put in a good motor and hang some brass under there and they make great little cars.

Lots of building ahead, eh?

Cheers,

What a great looking hobby shop, those are becoming way too rare. Nice haul Harry, that should keep you busy for awhile.

What a shop! I've never seen such a nice fully stocked shop. The best local shop we have Louisville has a little stuff, but I find that my 20 mile drive to pick up some brass usually finds the size I need is out of stock. They always have some kind of excuse and tell me to come back in 2-3 days. One click on the internet and I findmy size in stock and shipped the same day. Needless to say, I no longer waste time making the drive to the local shop. Too bad, I always wandered around and found something else to buy.

I guess lack of stock is the most common issue for all hobby/slot shops.

That is a great looking hobby shop! There was a couple good one's in my area like that, but unfortunately they are gone now. There still is some other one's around, but you got to travel a bit to get to them. Looking forward to seeing that Triumph build!

Awesome looking HS and great haul!!! I tried talking my local hometown hardware/HS store guy a way back into carrying K&S brass items and Evergreen plastic items but he said it wasn't worth it or too expensive !!! He has a good supply of train stuff and some slot car stuff but he'll never know if it's worth it until he tries it...oh well!! Momma was good to ya!!!!!

Those are clay sculpting tools. With mold making I discovered I am not that good at sealing the body with tape. Thought I would try the clay method.
