Please help. I need some honeycomb

Postby Ember » Thu Aug 28, 2014 9:48 pm

Would someone please help me to get a couple of those honeycomb ceramic plates from Amazon? I can buy direct, but they're going to charge me USD 47 just for shipping. I'm quite sure first class postage on a pair of plates couldn't possibly be anywhere near that much.

I've not managed to find a source for them in Oz. No doubt they exist, but not sure what they'd list as.

Hi Ember;

I just googled "ceramic honeycomb board Australia", and found this, among others. It sounds like the same thing I use.

Probably cheaper than international shipping.

I would do it for you, but I would first have to order it from the US. I should try to find a good source locally as they are really made for ceramic propane heater cores. No luck with that yet.

Cheers,

Keith

Or this one, the third one down, is in Melbourne. Is that near where you are?

Thanks Keith. I wasn't having a whole lot of luck with Google. It kept throwing me back to eBay and I wasn't sure what the stuff was originally used for.

Thanks Dave. The ones Keith found will do the job. I just don't get to pay the $6.50 that you boys do. Nothing unusual there then.

I actually found a company in China where I can buy them for $.70 each. Only one problem, minimum order is 10000. Are there that many slot racers in the world that need a "Retrojig"?

I've developed a thing for small cars of late. I have a beautiful Alfa Giulietta Sprint underway and I've decided to redo the chassis for the Spridget too. Plus I think the honeycomb will help make my life easier with some other bits and pieces that I've been trying to get right, like luggage racks.

I finished up finding some for $15 in Perth.

I was going to say, you seem to be always on holidays. Then I remembered you work on school terms. :)

Not convinced they'd do the job. Acoustic tiles can be inclined to be crumbly.
