A new track is born!

Before the jokes start flying, I'll explain:

A number of years ago, I met a gent named Chris W. that was into HO and had build a fully-landscaped track that was featured in Model Car Racing Magazine years ago. He'd seen my website chronicling my original build of the Palmer Divide Raceway and asked if he could come check it out. We hit it off right away and before you knew it, he'd torn up his HO and built an incredible layout with Scalextric Sport track:

Well, since running on my now-routed version of PDR, he'd decided to redo the whole shebang! Out with the old and in with the new!

Today I'm heading down to help tape on hopefully power up and give birth to his new track.

More to come!

Wow! What a great time!!! Chris had the track pre-wired except the power taps when I arrived. The track is simply fantastic in person!

Great flow and his first routing job is almost perfect!

I showed him how to use Luf's tape tool and off he went:

We burnished the tape and powered it up! Wow! This thing is smooth! Great flow and a very nice running track.

I brought him a track warming present:

No more pics cuz we were racing!

It was a great day! He really worked hard on this track and it was awesome seeing it powered up for the first time. It even had decent traction for never having been used before.

This build should be a blast! Chris does all of his scenery with a bit of fun and a story in it. In one section you can see he had barn animals in the middle of the track...today he said it might be a lady pushing a pram. You never know and it is super funny when you see something he's buried into his scenery.

Can't wait to go play again!

BTW - see if you can spot part of the old corkscrew from the PDR in one of the pictures above ;)

Very cool, looks like a fun track! I like how he darkened the racing lines around it too!

So, this is another Colorado track? If so, we've got some seasoned testers with deep slot boxes, ready, willing and able!
