If you have not yet decided on a specific paint for the racing surface, may I suggest you consider using UMA? It's a urethane-modified acrylic, available from Dunn-Edwards and some other paint stores. It is available in white only but the store will tint it for you to a grey color.
It's more expensive than a regular latex, but the levels of grip it provides are superior to any other paint I have tried, and it is much more tolerant of different tire compounds than other paints, in my experience.
