Gray Matter Raceway complete build photo report

Postby PipSlot » Sun Jan 08, 2017 2:49 pm

Hi, this is a photo report of the building process of Gray Matter Raceway, a track my friend and I have built some years ago (2013 - 2014). At the time, I posted all progress on a different forum (SCA), so I thought some of you might never have seen this and like to scroll through it.

It all started with a rough mockup:

After some different versions, we landed on this final design

The first cut, here goes nothing :)

We really wanted a banked curve

Checking if the radius is OK, running with a car battery

We calculated the shape to cut the MDF for that banked turn with a combination of guesswork and this helpful page, especially the diagrams on there

Really impressed, I followed the build on one of the other forums then. As was said, furniture grade.
Off topic, is that a Pinzgauer? I own a similar, but different vehicle, a VW T3/25 Syncro.

thanks everyone for your awesome comments!!! :o

@buspor63: I love the T3 Syncro! My friend owns a red one and it is beautiful! The car next to the track is a Mercedes Unimog from 1964 that me and two friends bought in a very bad shape in 2004. We then spent a couple of years restoring it, so it is kind of special to us. Here you can see it in its "natural habitat"
