Cleaning Magna-Braid

Postby kidvoltage » Wed Feb 27, 2019 11:28 pm

Every now and then I look at my track and think it would just run better if I'd clean the braid. And of course I'd be right.

What is a good solution - no pun intended - for cleaning braid?

I just use a little Inox on my braids from time to time and use a shop rag to wipe the top.

CRC contact cleaner also works, spray some on a rag and wipe the braid with that. Do not spray directly on the braid, that could eventually cause it to come unstuck. We have found that Inox is helpful as well. A track that is used a lot will not need to have the braid cleaned as often. When you are testing your cars, or just running practice laps resist the temptation to just run in your favorite lane.

Well shoot... I do run all the lanes when I practice on those rare occasions. I use INOX on a rag, never directly on the braid.

Guess I'm doing ok.

Thanks.

I have to say its hilarious that other people have a "favorite" lane on their track, and we all understood it when it was mentioned. Much as I try to resist it, because I want to be best on all lanes of my own track, I find myself automatically reaching for the same lane first.

I spray WD40 on the braids and just run a car. I run most all lanes to see how the cars work on each and to see if I think they are pretty even. Being a modified figure 8, the lanes are pretty equal.
