Palmer Divide Raceway (PDR) v3.0 Updated 02/18/2015

After moving and having to tear down the PDR v2.5 (2nd track, 1 half revision), I've been slowly putting the bench work back together, prepping the track surface for new paint and tape, and trying to figure out what to do with the section I had to shorten by 2 feet to fit into the new basement.

I've alternated between wanting something quick, banked or curvy. The old version was very kinked in this location and really slowed cars down and was also heavily squeezed. I decided to open things up a bit by keeping 3" lane spacing through here and am making a simple and quick section since it is at the end of the long straight and connects to the Start/Finish line. It gives me a few more scenic opportunities (particularly with more paddock space!) and more sliding area in the corner.

So today I finally had an hour to do some more work! Looks about as rough as I-25 through Denver, but it will all work out when done. I'll get the routing done tomorrow and on to the painting!

More to come!

Nice addition David. It'll hard on the brakes at the end of the straight on that inside lane. Like that. :handgestures-thumbup:

With AC, there are no brakes  Now you know why there is a slight kink in the 20' long stretch.

A few more as I play with elevations. I'm going to go much milder this time as Castle Rock is really more rolling hills than cliffs. I think I have them fairly close except for the new section since I need to route it.

Always love your track work David. Good to see the rebuild started.

I'd put in more elevation, but I've never been on the level.

Thanks, I'm happy to finally start working on this again. Can't wait to get back to the scenery.

Dundee - this is still the same track I had, just took out about 5 feet of lap length. It is about 85' now.

Dave, glad to see you finally having time to get going on the track again. It looks great as always and I like the new section you came up with. I still think you should do the Nürburgring Karussel corner there...

Thanks guys, I'm seriously stoked to get this thing running again!

Managed to get the routing done today - wow! Haven't done that in awhile lol!

I ended up putting in a slight bend to keep it from getting too linear looking. And yes the cars can pass... Just barely ;)

Speedy - thanks - we are a little further away now.

Looking good man!, I really like that little bend you put in there too. That will give it a nice transition into the corner by the pits. :text-bravo:

I hope so!

I just realized all of my pencil and sharpie marks make it look like I really hosed the lines when routing. Not so, they actually turned out good with nary a jiggle!
