The River Run - Beginnings

I thought that if I reversed the polarity to my controller (DeFalco), then it could damage the controller unless I had some sort of adapter. I ran it once at Matt's for about a second with the polarity reversed (by mistake) and the car behaved very strangely; took off like a rocket ship..............

With the SCC stations, when you flip the switch, it changes the polarity at the track which makes your car go the other way. But it's still positive polarity so it doesn't affect the controller.

Not sure why your controller acted up at Matt's track, but I ran my controller there (also a Difalco) in both directions and had no problems.

Thanks for posting the layout pic. I would go 3 lanes if you can. Having 3 lanes is so much better than 2. But I know room is always a issue. Thanks Indybob

Hi Allan, track is looking wonderful. I agree with everyone that urged 3 lanes. Much more fun when you have the guys over. Not sure about your help though. Oh, wait, I had the same help. :naughty:

It's cool to see another attic track. I have one too. Attics have unique challenges (insulation from summer heat, low ceiling height) but they do make great spaces for slot car tracks since these slot car spaces they usually don't have to compete with other uses.

One of our guys, who also has a track in his attic, made a lift out section of track that crosses all three lanes. He can actually run all three continuously in one triple long circuit. It is very handy if you are by yourself and want a bit more variety, and especially to rubber up the track before a night of racing.

At the lift out, two lanes curve to the one side and the third lane crosses them, providing one continuous loop.
