The next step artin 1/43 track

Well after both the dog and cat attacking the cars, the wife agreed we need a table. Hoping to solve a few issues, #1 I took my track from 5 x 13 to 4x8 took out a lot of the junk track, but still have almost no power, so want to run some taps. #2 get rid of the bump up for a more gradual grade but need some more straights... Some banked turns wouldn't be so terrible either lol

My local box store only carries 3/4th inch mdf. My ultimate goal is to go to a wood track but 3/4 inch seems overkill. I can get fine grade particle board in 5/8 from them, any thoughts on using it as a track surface? I can get 5/8th mdf but the guy wants almost twice what the box store sells 3/4th for... The closest place I can get some from is just a long drive and cost prohibiting to have just 1 or 2 sheets shipped.

OK well thanks for the help, I'm going to go make some sawdust :-D

Nice :-D well had a long week at work, didn't get much done, today I took the base out sanded it down, attached the top and the safety border put the track back on and gave it a few test runs :-D next week I'm going to try to make some drivers stations and try to run the power taps at least one to the back stretch. Need to get rid of the bump up and build some proper supports too but that requires more straight tracks :-/

Great looking table and layout.
I don't know what it is about Artin 1/43 cars and track, but I can't seem to stay away from them for long. Probably because they're cheap and easy to tinker with. I have a half-dozen classic Artin sets, a bunch of cars and tons of extra track. I've been focusing on Carrera 1/32 Digital lately, but your pic has me itching to build another 1/43 track.
Nice work.

Thanks, I've been tempted to pull the trigger on a digital set, but I think it'd turn into a destruction derby with the little ones, I picked up a banked turn and a r2 got rid of the hump as it was turning into a launch ramp for the little ones (and sometimes the big kid to) Lol. I enjoy the varying types of turns, keeps it interesting to me but not frustrating to the kids. Which was the issue with the last setup.
