My Home Track

Postby gsmea » Wed Sep 23, 2015 2:01 am

Good day all, I have a classic scaley track setup. The table size I have is 3m x 1m. My layout has changed a couple of times, but I am now happy with the layout.

Image

It is a two lane track of +- 14meter lane length, with a custom 14,5 volt 10 amp power supply on each lane. The timing system is Race Coordinator.

There is still a lot of work to do on my track, but we are slowly making progress.

My question - I would love to give the track a name, but is unsure whether what I had in mind is already taken or has the one or other issue. The name I have in mind is Shamrock Slot Car Raceway. I did google and the closest reply is Shamrock Glen and Clover Racing.

Does anybody know about any other club or track that has the same name that I have in mind?

Thank you,
Gavin

Pretty nice layout. Seeing people take a little imagination with design never gets old.

I think you can name it anything you want. I don't think anyone will object.

Nice Gavin, you made use of all the table space you had. I agree with Harry, call it whatever you like. I don't think anyone will mind.

Jon, that may be a bit creepy, since they actually have them there. Its like someone in Texas naming something Fire Ants, or Killer Bees. LOL!

Gavin, my friends from Bloemfontein retired to Zinkwazi some time ago. This is the first time I have seen the city's name since I was around them all the time when they lived here.

Call it whatever you want to, and race on it all the time!

Hahahaaaaaa you guys are funny.

Richard - I will give the starter guy a proud spot once done with the track. The poor fella is old and breaks easily.

Thank you for your kind words. I will then call the track Shamrock Slot Car Raceway.

Waytoomuch - your Pan Am cars are currently with us here in Bloem and we are having fun with them.
Nkwazi is a very nice town in the KZN North Coast. It is a good place to trade the Free State for when retiring.

Gavin - very tidy space and a nice layout. I too use Race Coordinator on my layout and like it.

I have tried 4 or 5 different timers, all were gr8, but the fact that cars, drivers and race stats are saved and be used in the future was the convincing factor.
I am still using the mechanical switches in the scaley track, and is planning to build myself an IR sensor.
Richard - I again forgot to take your spare pair to test..... Alstheimers light is kicking in...

Eventually I got time to work further on my track. Managed to build the bridge and elevation sections.
Also got the IR sensors working and put up a light bridge.
Further managed copper tape the entire track. Here are some pics.

And now for the aprons, borders and barriers......
