Time for a new project? advice needed

Postby vonsirius » Tue Dec 20, 2016 12:52 pm

I´m toying whith the idea of change my little permanent track and change my old lovely Scaley track for Carrera.
Carrera will be better but scalextric it´s full of caracter.

You can see my track at elra circuit rebuild post at reader´s roads or at the solo racing series.

Need help, what do you think?

That would be a fun layout.Carrera is a smooth racing surface that is some of the best track built today. That being said,I do like your old layout. The one cool thing about plastic track, you can run the Carrera for a while, then if you like put the classic Scalextric back up ..Win,win all the way around.. :)

Not a bad predicament Von. The Carrera design looks like a Suzuka layout.
Also Carrera is easy to paint should you desire.
It does give added grip, and seeing as how the track rails are stainless and a bit less magnetic for all but Carrera cars added grip wont hurt.
Its always fun trying something new. I say go for it. Youve nothing to lose.
Good luck and keep us posted

Carrera track is very good. Give it a try and see what you think. The extra spacing is nice and it looks more realistic. You can then run just about anything on it.

Cheers

Thank you for your response!

After what you said, I think I will go for it, anyway it don´t gonna be now, I must to find time to do it, because I race mag less it must to be painted, scenery added ,etc.

Another question, the 8 figure or this one?

First thing is, you need a table. My knees hurt just looking at that tile floor. The layout looks good. I've done something similar with about 30' of old Strombecker track. I'm locked into the same radius curve, but with your track you have several options available to you. Try them all, switch it around, reverse direction, eventually you'll find something that just feels right.

Both look good, but I think you would have more fun with the figure eight with mag less racing. But that is just my Humble opinion..
