Dire straights raceway makeover

Postby btaylor » Mon Jun 04, 2018 1:59 am

Well, I just could not stand not being able to run my 1/24 cars on either track. So, out came the tubs, and in went the scaley track. I liked the flow I had with the digi track, so I somewhat duplicated the design. I tamed down the center section a bit, and changed up all the corners, so no two are alike. The new lane spacing is 4" in most places, and out to 5" and in to 3 1/2" in a few. plenty of room for all my cars now. The design ended up being a pretty fast design, with enough challenge to make you drive it. Through the week I will be playing with some minor elevation changes here and there, just to break it up a bit. Timing system and final wiring to be done this week also. This is what I have so far.

Looks good to me. Can’t blame you for the change, the big boys are just too much fun to ignore. I did the same when the time came to redo the Show-Me.

Question: does Bob ever sleep? Between building multiple 1:1 projects, building 10 cars per day, and at least a layout a week - inquiring minds want to know! :D

Looking good Bob!

Nice work! Looks like a good flow, should be fast.
I have to agree with spacing. I went with 4" so my1/24 vintage cars can come out to play eventually.

I didn't know that there were other users here with SSD and RCS64.
It is a pity that I cannot see the images of your digital track.
SSD and RCS64 are the main reasons why I joined the slot car craze back in 2014.
Here in Auckland, NZ, we have a small group of people that race digital (SSD and oXigen).

Anyway, your track looks nice and reminds me of our previous layout:

It is a pity that SS lane spacing is not 100mm because I would like to race some 1/24.
I want to still be able to keep racing digitally, so my next move is to change (at least for a while) to Carrera.
