Track Move - Quail Ridge Speedway

Well....my track has moved, thanks to all the guys for the muscle! It was a busy Saturday moving my track to it's new home at Rafael's place across town. The track's new home is really close to where we held the Tourist Trophy at the DCMR track, just a two minute drive between the two tracks.

Track was slid onto the trailer folding in each leg as the track moved onto the trailer. No pics of this as I was on my back on the concrete!

Now making plans how to move it into the garage! In the end we decide to keep it simple and move the track out the way we moved the track in. Slide out the track and extend one leg at a time until it was fully out. Again no pictures of this as I was on the ground!










Now the best part! BBQ!

Glad to hear Rafael will continue your track’s legacy. You’ve had that design many years now going back to your plastic track days IIRC.

You're lucky to known and have access to a fellow like Richard. Next track I build I think I'd want his input on a base as well...that's the one area that I just don't have patience for. Designing and routing the track yes, building the base...a big fat no!

I've been thinking lately, what would the ideal home track design look like and be practical to fit into a home space while having all the right sightlines, accessibility for marshaling etc. Going past anything 20'-24' long, and it gets a little hard on the eyes for braking points etc. Anything too wide, marshalling gets tougher or impacts driver sightlines.

Hmmm...seems to be a challenge to design such a thing...while the TT2019 planning starts in earnest...maybe something to noodle on ;)
