Rally Sweden - Phase III (updated 1-9-14 pg. 2)

Postby JESIV » Fri Feb 08, 2013 10:24 am

Well I've got my rally track up and running.
Ninco Track
10'4" x 4' with a 2'x2' 'lip' to make the L
Right now I'm using Ninco Pole position for the timing. I'd like to get TrackMate at some point.

I still have a lot of work to do getting the track painted and doing more with the scenery. I've always wanted a full snow themed rally track and it's finally, if not slowly, happening.

A good use of the Rally loop track pieces if I do say so myself.

Thanks guys. The track is a lot of fun and as bibbster said a departure from what I normally do. Dad came over last night for some trial laps and he had a blast. The bridge with the crossover and 'the split' are just too cool. I love watching the cars maneuver through those spots.
Thanks Harry, I had to look Toppen up on google...and now I know :D

Jon - I'm not sure the local bengals fans can offer a viable alternative to being a fan of other teams so I get away with it. That collection of figs is 1 thinner than it was a few months ago as the romo fig went into the garbage can recently

Looks like you've made a fine start. I long for a rally track, but can't squeeze anything more into this place.

Looking forward to watching it evolve.

I love it! And you used Ninco track  ......I suddenly don't feel so alone. Are the "snow" tracks really that much smoother/slicker or is it just for looks?

You are not alone, I'm a big fan of Ninco track. I have used their snow track in the past and it is very slick. The white track you see in the picture is just standard track that has been painted. Eventually I will have it all painted white.

Ah but more snow is coming. I found a link with some video of the Rally Sweden stage of the WRC...
I still contend the Rally Drivers (and the fans that line the track) are nuts!

scroll down and there should be a couple of videos.

Well I've finally got the track all painted and added some trees, 'sky', railing etc. There is still much to do but I am pleased with the progress so far. It amazes me how quickly a layout 'eats up' trees. I thought I had a lot but after getting them all down I could still use many many more. I also plan to have the track lined with 'spectators' at some point, so I need find more people.
Anywho, here are some updated photos

That's really beginning to take on some personality now.

Keep up the good work.

Wow James that looks great. I have always wanted a rally track. On trees i could not have said it better. Every time you add a few it looks like you should add more. Jim

That is awesome!!! I still want to build a rally track with snow. I think it looks fantastic.

I hope Darth Maul doesn't drop in...that could leave a mark!
