Great job on the rock faces. Did you carve them in wet plaster or cast them?

Thanks guys. The rocks are cast plaster using rubber molds. I filled in the cracks using joint compound.

What's your secret to getting your rocks out of the moulds cleanly? I've been experimenting with casting rocks from Noch moulds, but so many of the sharp edges that I like get left behind in the moulds. :(

I am having a little more luck with some soft latex brick wall moulds that I made myself.

Have you considered using combed sisal for grasses? The Woodland Scenics field grass looks too fine in many cases.

Well, molds with deep cuts can be hard. I use hydrocal, which is a very hard casting plaster. I also spray the molds first with "wet" water, which is water mixed w/a few drops of liquid dish soap. Even then it can be hard to get perfect castings. Make sure you let them set up a good 30/45 minutes. Check out my companies, I work w/plaster all day long;

Your track is coming along nicely.
How did you get your track to bend without kinking the power rails?
The more I looked at your track the more I wonder how you bend a plastic track without messing it up.

I like how you did your rocks and painted the scenery thus far.
