I've seen it before. I can't imagine how you remembered or found that.

I put the finishing touches on the IGA. I added the signs, detailed the roof, finished the doors & aged it a bit. Questions?

I finished off the apartment building by adding the remaining walls, the roof, details & then painting & weathering it. I even added an old garden hose for the roof, because not only are roofs often seen more than the sides of the buildings (because we view them from above), real roofs also often seem to be the place where junk collects. The more junk the better. The facade was kitbashed from some O Scale parts. I had to add some height between floors, and of course, make the doors taller. Questions?

You are simply doing fabulous work as usual. Those buildings look so real. I love that patch work next to the Coke sign and the roof...just perfect!

This is really a fabulous project in so many ways! I wonder if you would share your weathering technique for buildings -- the materials you use, how you apply and seal them? If you've already covered this subject in a previous thread, just a link or a pointer to where I can find this info would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick V.

Next building. This one also features a modified O Scale building facade. I made the side wall using some of my original master patterns, and yes, I hand carved all of the brick for the master one at a time (seriously).

I wanted it to have an old sign that was painted on that would really "place" the layout. You can't get much more obvious than an old Route 66 logo. : )

I found a sign I liked printed it out, and then cut it out like a stencil. I misted the back of the sign with a very light coating of spray adhesive & then pressed in place. I misted it with 3 or 4 light coats of flat white primer & then pulled off the stencil. When I did a little of teh brick paint came off but I thought that looked cool so I pressed some blue painter's tape on the wall (following the brick lines) and pulled up even more.

I still need to add the roof, window glass & some additional signs but here's where I'm at today.

Questions?

1) I figured you were crazy - but carving all of that? WOWEE!!!
2) As usual, you've managed to make my jaw bang off the desk.

Awesome, awesome stuff!!!

Thanks but bricks are my business. : ) Plus once I do a master I make a rubber mold so I can cast as many as I like.
