(this is a continuation / expansion of the fun we had with the P-BOP proxy cars here: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=10619&p=124788#p124788)


This Fun Run is just as much about the building and modeling as it is about the performance! :D

Classes:
- Pre '65 Hot Rod
- Pre '65 Gasser
- Pre '65 RatRod
- Sling Shot style rail (front motor, driver over/behind the rear tires)
- Pre '65 Salt Flats / Land Speed record type
----- Class A - H&R Lightning II 40,000rpm Motor
----- Class B - Piranha 21,500 Motor

Requirements for all cars/classes:
- No limit in the number of cars that can be entered by a builder! Want to enter one in each class? Want to enter 3 in one class and 2 in another? Roll them on into the staging lanes as it is definitely a case of the more the merrier for this fun run!
- 1/32 scale cars only
- No lexan bodies/drivers
- Urethane/Rubber tires only
- Appropriate looking wheels / inserts
- Chassis - wide open with the exception of NO factory drag chassis being allowed. Ideally we would love to see everyone try their hand at building a chassis from scratch. (great time to try your hand at fabbing one from brass, plastic, wire, wood, paper mache, etc!)
- Each entry must have a minimum of four functional/rotating tires (not counting wheelie bar wheels)
- .050" min ground clearance
- Guide flag blade can not exceed 1" in length - drop arm, spring loaded, etc designs are allowed to compensate for front end lift
- Wheelie bars are acceptable - however they must meet the following requirements
------ Bars must be of appropriate scale size and must not exceed 3" in length from the middle of the rear axle (if used)
------ Bars must be of the dual wheel design and have the wheels spaced wide enough that the wheels do not ride on the braid
------ Bar "wheels" can not be of the "fixed/skidder" type design (potential track damage) or be overly large/non-scale in appearance (modeling aspect)
- Gearing: Open to builder's preference
- Motor: Noted by classes below

Class specifics
- Pre '65 Salt Flats / Land Speed cars will be measured first on trap speed second on elapsed time (all other classes on elapse time then trap speed).
- Max width 2.5"
- Motor:
----- Class A - H&R Lightning II 40,000rpm motor only!
----- Class B - Piranha 21,500rpm motor only!
- Sling Shot style rail (front motor, driver over/behind the rear tires)
- Max width 2.5"
- Motor: H&R Lightning II 40,000rpm motor only!
- Pre '65 Hot Rod
- Max width 2.75"
- Motor: Piranha 21,500rpm motor only!
- Pre '65 Gasser
- Max width 2.75"
- Motor: Piranha 21,500rpm motor only!
- Pre '65 RatRod
- Max width 2.75"
- Motor: Piranha 21,500rpm motor only!

Intended format:
- Tires to be cleaned prior to each round.
- Preliminary qualifying to be performed to set bracket for each class
- Cars to be launched by a single driver using a common control to eliminate driver to driver variance.
- Quickest car advances to next round.

Please note:
- There is NO entry fee for this fun run other than the cost of shipping your car to the first venue.
- The car hosts will be providing photos and reviews of the cars for everyone's enjoyment! :)
- Concours judging will be performed at the first track at a minimum. :handgestures-thumbup:

I'm in! Does an AA Altered Fiat Topolino count as a pre 65 Gasser? I have never followed drag racing that much so am not sure where the lines divide between classes.

I would go with JK retro Hawk motors rather than the Pro-Slot FK. The pro-Slots
sometimes wont start on their own and require a very high amp power supply.
We have had problems with them in hardbody racing.

I had the first picture in mind, so I guess i'm good to go.

I am considering a slingshot dragster as well, and maybe a hot rod, but we will see. How far off are we putting the start of this? There is a lot of building to do in somewhat unfamiliar territory.

Todd, I am doing a rail dragster, and a either a gasser or hot rod too. Question, is the lightning motor double ended? I have never even seen one!

Thanks Todd, I have some ordered, but I need to set up the chassis with something else till they get here. should be another motor in my box that's similar in size and shape.
