To paraphrase an old movie, we built them and they came.
Not all the cars that showed up actually raced. Here are the results:
Most of the cars were Penelope Pitlane resin bodies with Penelope Pitlane chassis (there is a Cartrix Offy, a Scaley Vanwall and a Scaley Maserati/PP hybrid among the field). The cars were assembled over the last few weeks at the Clover Leaf Racing clubhouse (the store). The bodies and chassis were rather straight forward though each builder had their own preference on how to finish their car. (Some of the cars weren't quite finished)!
We're working on a new size CB wheel with a matching Quick Slick tire to give a more proper appearance so please excuse the inaccurate tire/wheel combinations. Presently the wheels are either CB 15x7 or 8, or BRM S-110 and/or S-111, or Slot.It 16.5x8.
For the most part the cars are powered by either the M/T-SL2 or the H&R Hawk with Slot.It pinion and crown gears.
It was a great race! There were a few mechanical issues but driver finished the race (even if it took 3 different cars). The cars may be a bit over-powered for the purist but we found that it was 'just right' for our track. We hope to incorporate a traveling road series where we visit local basement tracks to race. We'll keep you posted . . .
