On the DP: tongue-in-cheek doesn't translate well in posts.
It’s a bit hard coming up with liveries when only two teams ran the car, but the TelCel paint scheme is pretty much like the TelMex scheme used on the Sideways DP. I, and a few friends I discussed this with, would have preferred something a bit different. Suggestions were mostly Shank cars, specifically the 8, 14, and 60 (in the blue and white scheme similar to the gold chrome).
With a bit of mold modification (which is probably cost prohibitive), there are at least two BMW-powered cars that could be done.
I do commend Scalextric for bringing out this car. I bought the first one when it came out, and the second arrived in the mail Friday (thank you Mark Twain Hobbies). It was also the best running out-of-the-box Scalextric car I’ve had in a long time.
A bit of fodder for thought: in the DP day’s, Continental Tire gave out 1/64 Greenlight die cast DP cars. The cars were painted in a Continental Tire scheme, and were given out at their display at the races.
I wonder if anyone at Scalextrix or Continental would think of doing this with a slot car? It could be a good marketing/advertising ploy. I wouldn’t think the cars would be given away, but possibly be sold at a reduced price.
At one time, Sideways DP cars were sold at the IMSA trinket trailer. I bought two.
