1958 Plymouth Fury

As ever, it started with an idea....

And from there a 3D CAD model

which I got 3D printed. I used an SLS process as usual but with the optional polishing that cleans up the surface a little, just makes it a little smoother. I tried it on a chassis

And then made a 2-part silicone mold, which is where I am today. Here's the first one to come out

Next is the vacform windows and I'll see if one of my existing vacform interiors will fit, that will save me making a new one. I'll also get some graphics designed for it and wheel centers too.

Nice work indeed. (didn't someone mass produce this as a slot car?)

Most people just think of the '55-7 Chevy but the '58 Fury is arguably the most overlooked and best car of that era - a powerful V8, clean lines, excessive fins and a pushbutton tranny as I recall. My grandfather had a '58 Fury - purchased brand new - White (contrary to the movie - they were only avail in white, never in red). King did his homework when he selected this car as the subject of his novel.

Looks very nice! What's the strength of the 3D printed chassis vs. the resin body from the mold?

Better than the gag reel from many movies. Thanks, for some chuckles.

Should have a disclaimer, "Don't try this at home".

Vacform windows and interior are done, although I've still got the licence plates and wheel centers to do! Here's how it looks with paint on.
