SCX pro NASCAR

Question for you Mike...the sliding motor pod...do you lock it down or leave it free to move back and forth? I removed the brake pad. So, is little longer wheelbase better than shorter or let it move back and forth?

One the other SCX Pro cars that I have seen run, the hot set up seems to be lock the pod in place and remove the brake pad. Using the alternate motor pod to fit in a more driveable Boxer seems to be common too. The stock 25k RPM motor (RX-4)that comes with the PRO cars is a rocket, but can be difficult to drive. It does depend on what type of track you are racing on.

I just finished putting the #9 Kasey Kahne car (non pro analog) together for an upcoming club enduro. All I did to the car was install a slot-it guide with a B Nova adapter, a Pioneer 18,000 rpm typhoon motor using the SCC adapter, a set of 9-27 gears from the used parts bin along with the SCC set collar and a set of glued and trued YD"s on the stock plastic hub.. Until I shoe gooed the pod down I could not keep the car off of it's roof even with 15 gr. of weight :o With the pod stabilized the car just came alive. A bit more tuning allowed me to pull 9gr. of lead out of the car.

So if you glue the front of the pro pod..do you choose to leave it all the way back?

The tuning tape was my first response. While it decreased the rollovers the car now became unpredictable with it's barrel rolls. If I can round up another chassis I would like to give the front bead approach a try.

You realize...up in Canada,the rotation of the earth has a greater effect on your slot cars because you're closer to one of the poles! Cars on the equator don't tip over. :music-rockout:[/quote]

Never thought of that. I just thought that the studs in the tires had worn down and were'nt digging into the ice very well. :lol:

Hey!! You know about that equator thing too!! Ok,I'll center it...the other car I'm gonna leave sliding, just to compare. They'll have same motors and gearing.

Second cars ready now and it's fast....chassis tight and the pod hunting all over for bite, it's only resistance is the wires, so it's fairly loose. Set up like that its handling better with the same 7gram weight , same place. This one doesn't have the lightweight interior because I can't find one.
