transformer help

Postby texasleaguer » Sat Apr 29, 2017 7:13 pm

Is it possible to use artin wall warts to power a Carrera analog track. They'll be used on a very small 1/32 track, with 1/32 controllers and running Carrera 1/43 cars. Hoping to use whats laying around. thanks for your help. RJ

I would think if the plug fits it should be OK. What are the transformers rated as far as output. 12 or more volts?

I think most 1/43 cars require higher voltage, like 18v. They will run on 12v but will be slow.

Carrera 1/24 cars come with an 18vdc power supply. I could probably find one of them. Plugs don't make any difference, you can hot wire directly to the track and terminals or you can use an old plug grafted to the new power supply track cord. The Artin will work fine, although the power level could be low. Give it a try and see how it works.

I run on 12vdc and had a couple 1/43 cars for kids to play with. The speed was ridiculous with 12 volts on the cars I had.
