Cox Super Scale "automatic" double lane changer

40521137_673433429693205_3751918898178424832_n.jpgAs part of my Artin 1/32 ac2car track I originally wanted to find a Cox Super Scale "automatic" double straight lane changer piece to graft in.

I haven't found any available from the 1/43 forum folks or from the auction site, but did get these pics (see additional pic in my reply to this post) from a member of a slot group on FB.

This is almost exactly what I was considering designing into a routed mdf double lane change using some spare contact rails. We'll see.

How about using the lane changer from an Eldon Selectronic set? Same track piece, just has a cable and manual push button to change lanes.

That is my back up if I can't snag a Cox piece, or maybe route my own changer and build a custom spring diverter mechanism.

After searching for the Eldon/Cox Super Scale automatic XLC and finding only sets at rather high prices, I snagged a couple of minty Eldon Selectronic XLCs with working cables on the cheap off epay. I will be removing the entry XLC mechanics, reversing the track, installing my own home grown version of the Cox automatic spring loaded deflector gate for the ac2car Artin track.

They are listed as Eldon. They do not have the cables attached, or the white plastic deverters, I think it is the version that you are looking for. He is asking a fortune, but it says best offer.

Wow, those "speed control" lane change bits may have been a precursor to the Eldon/Cox Super Scale automatic XLCs, but after the cable control. The escape road pieces are interesting. I wonder if they work the same way. Those MB XLCs are pretty spendy. Looks like I got a deal at $12.50 for 2.

According to that instruction sheet for the auction Selectronic set, and the lane changer design itself, you approach the lane change junction at speed, you change lanes. If you slow down, you go straight. That appears the exact opposite of the later Cox/Eldon lane changer, where you approach at speed you go straight through and if you slow down, you change lanes. The early Eldon XLCs were manually operated via cables.
