Revisiting the Scalextric Nascar licensing

The May/June 2019 issue of the British "Slot" magazine features an article on Micro Scalextric's new range of sets, cars and improved track. New cars incude a Chevrolet Lumina in both full Earnhardt Goodrich #3 and Ernie Irvin's Kodak #4. Seeing how the new 1/32 Scalextric Monte Carlo and T-bird will come only in generic liveries how is this possible?

Scalextric's Dave Kennedy stated Nascar is only interested in licensing current cars. Yet, the Lumina was retired from Nascar 25 years. What gives? :roll:

Maybe the slot car manufacturers have seen posts from certain people that refer to NASCAR as NAPCAR and gauged the interest will not support future NASCAR releases. Just sayin.....

It sounds like the article didn't present things correctly. Marchon released the Goodwrench and Kodak Lumina HO slot cars in the 90's. At some point Hornby bought the rights and changed the name to Micro Scalextric.

The new Micro Scalextric range is made up of licensed sets such as Looney Tunes.

Yea its interesting. There is a photo of about 16 new releases and the Kodak and Goodwrench Lumina are adverised proudly.
