Possibly the Shark 25 motor is too powerful for that car when you are running without traction magnets. If it was me I would try a lower (numerically) gear ratio, maybe 12 or 13:32. These cars are also very fussy about subtle differences in things like body float, pod float and ride height. A half turn of a screw can make a big difference. Tires are very important, it is best if they are glued and trued. Rubber tires often have batch to batch differences that affect performance, that is not a problem with silicone or urethane tires. It is nice to know if the tires that you are using are a problem. If you have a car that runs well it would be safe to assume that the tires are good. As a test you could swap those tires to another car with handling problems, if the handling improves you would want to work on the tires before you tried anything else.
