For that matter, if the track is divided into electrically isolated sections, you could even create dynamic braking zones. All it takes is a short on the rails and zero voltage applied in that section, and your car will act like it has brakes right there. Of course, any track section that doesn't have enough voltage for the ghost car to move runs the risk of stalling the car there...
