Polistil 1/43

Postby taskak » Sun Feb 14, 2016 6:06 am

Saw these sometime ago and because I'm always curious about new stuff had to get some of these.
Polistil was an Italian brand started 1960 and it was mostly known from diecast and plastic cars but they also made slot cars.
They went out of the business 1993 but 2014 Chinese May Cheong (Maisto) Group brought the Polistil brand back.
My first track was actually Polistil back in early 80's and I still got it but these got nothing to do with those.
Anyway these arrived couple of days ago from Italy, they sell these lot there because of the origin I guess.

Cars actually don't look that bad, F1 could have maybe racing number and at least driver helmet painted but Huracan is decent.

Sadly they got loops on the track and they have used Carrera guide pin or copy of it.

These cost 2/3 of new Carrera Go car, made in China and that shows in tires very well.

Gears are really loud.
They made only these two model, I think there are 3 version of both.
Huracan is little smaller than Carrera Go Huracan.
Strong magnet, lap record 3.72 is made with Carrera Go F1, Huracan did it on 4.13, Carrera Huracan 4.60.
So Huracan is pretty fast, F1 car not so.
I kinda understand why they made these like this, Carrera is leader on the market so making compatible cars might add sells.
But Carrera is releasing also police Huracan this year so these guys gonna have to make something new
and improve guality if they wanna compete anyway.
Just thought sharing this because I haven't seen these mentioned.
Regards, Aki

Motors are same size as in Go cars, axle diameter 1.5mm, but it's about 3mm longer. 8T pinion.
Gear noise actually is normal on F1 car, and Huracan's body causes the noise somehow.
Without the body it's not loud at all.

The body does not cause the noise, it simply amplifies it.

Polistil has released new sets in October 2016
and they come with some new cars,
Ford GT and Alfa Romeo 4C.

I don't know how long rest of these has been out.

This set comes with solo racing feature like it says on a picture.
Other car goes by itself and you can race against it.
I don't know how it works.

Some fantasy stuff

Unfortunately Ford GT or Alfa are not sold separately at least yet.
I contacted few eBay sellers in Italy who sells older models
but they didn't have new models or any information are they gonna be available.

Cheers

Aki

I am certainly interested in the body shells, and the fact that there is no loop in a couple of sets is progressive thinking for 1/43 :D

It would be nice to see a chassis with a guide flag offered again by someone again

Thanks Aki

I picked up one Polistil set from local toy store and another one from eBay.
Both are battery operated 12V.
Track pieces are same width than Carrera and SCX but not compatible.

Huracan and Ford GT got groundlights

Cheers

why did you show me the Alfas?
why did you have to do it? ;)

thanks for the pics, they look really good!
can you please be so kind and take a picture of an Alfa and from the GT from the side (frontal), so i guess how did the profile, comparing the size of the wheels to the rest of the body, if they can be lowered and what would they look like with a little smaller wheels set flush with the outside of the body?

The front is not right because of the loop de loop but it can be pushed down with just fingers like that so it could be fixed with hot water or something.
Tires outer diameter is 15 mm.
Here's a link to them
