Thanks Broman. Working on the chassis right now along with wheels and tires. Also thinking of removing the side molding on this one. More pics to follow. I think many have molded this popular ride over the years. I could be wrong but I think I might be the only one that molded it as a Gasser.

Spent the day installing all the wiring and the Trackmate TIming system. All went well. Made a few test runs and is the new track every smooth! Grabbed 3 different brand cars still new in the package and made some test runs at 6v and 12v. Three brands were an SCX, a GO Dune Buggy and an Artin. Did nothing to them other then place them on the track. I will post the times later as they are in the race track and I am in my office at the moment. I will say that the cheap butt Artin flys!

Here are the results from playing around yesterday with 3 different brand cars. All new and nothing done to them.

6v 12v
SCX Barracuda 2.60 1.73 Very small scale wheels and tire

GO Dune Buggy 2.34 1.27 Bumped down the track

Artin 1.54 1.37 Really bumped down the track

Artin car on 6v or 12v is a monster!

Bumped as in Jumped? Ummmmmmm. Sounds like tires need truing.
Also, Carrera & SCX motors are designed for minimum of 14.5 volt, Alan. Makes a BIG difference. :D

Yes the tires need work as all I did was take them out of the box and run then.

Thanks for the info on the voltage for the Go and SCX. There was nothing on the package stating voltages

I will rerun those two

I will also replace the Go Dune Buggy Tires!!

Set track voltage to 14v as per Chucks suggestion for the GO and SCX

SCX turned a 1.59 which was an improvement.

The GO would not hook up and bumped down the track even worse turning a 1.30.

Again these are stock cars and no work has been done to them.

The Go really needs wheel and tire truing.

THe wheels and tires definitly need work on the buggies. But then they run well. ;)

Chuck - you are right. The Buggy is smooth running once the wheel and tire issue is worked on. Nice and quite and very responsive.!

another awesome casting, Alan!
reducing the rear axle play with a small drop of CA glue also really helps on the Go cars to run smoother.

Interesting how this drag race proxy is unfolding. Outstanding work on the track and castings too Alan. What I think would be fun seeing is a wheel-stand competition? Have to be with some sort of spring-loaded drop arm, maybe a weighted body. Just saying, imagine the anglia or 55 doing that!!

Thanks for the comments on track and castings. I will be holding an exhibition in August just to introduce those to the 1/43 scale. Also plan on running a stock Artin event. Artins are plentiful and cheap. Great way to get many into it and in time advance in to more involved classes.
